1. On admit: WBC > 16k on admission?
2. On admit: Age > 55?
3. On admit: Glucose >200 mg/dL (>10 mmol/L) on admission?
4. On admit: AST > 250 on admission?
5. On admit: LDH > 350 on admission?
6. 48h post-admit: Hct drop >10% from admission
7. 48h post-admit: BUN increase >5 mg/dL (>1.79 mmol/L) from admission
8. 48h post-admit: Ca <8 mg/dL (<2 mmol/L) within 48 hours
9. 48h post-admit: Arterial pO2 <60 mmHg within 48 hours
10. 48h post-admit: Base deficit (24 - HCO3) >4 mg/dL within 48 hours
11. 48h post-admit: Fluid needs > 6L within 48 hours
